At Nisa Premier Hospital, healthcare goes beyond the walls of our hospital. We believe that improving a nation’s health requires collaboration, education, and a commitment to empowering those who serve on the front lines. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, we recently organised a comprehensive emergency care training program for officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to giving back to society by strengthening emergency response systems and equipping first responders with the knowledge and practical skills needed to save lives.

Why This Initiative Matters

Road traffic accidents remain one of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities in Nigeria. In many cases, the actions taken within the first few minutes after an accident can determine whether a victim survives or suffers long-term complications.

As the nation’s foremost road safety agency, the Federal Road Safety Corps plays a critical role in responding to road traffic emergencies. Recognising this responsibility, Nisa Premier Hospital partnered with the FRSC to enhance its officers’ capacity through specialised medical training.

Training Focus Areas

The training covered key aspects of emergency and trauma care, including:

Hospital Care of Accident Victims

Participants gained valuable insights into the continuum of trauma care, understanding what happens once accident victims arrive at the hospital and how effective pre-hospital interventions improve patient outcomes.

Wound and Bleeding Management

Officers were trained on recognising different types of wounds, controlling severe bleeding, preventing infection, and administering appropriate first aid before victims reach definitive medical care.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

The Basic Life Support session equipped participants with essential life-saving skills, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and techniques for responding to medical emergencies before advanced medical help arrives.

Pre-Hospital Patient Transport

Safe transportation of accident victims is just as important as initial treatment. Participants learned proper patient handling, immobilisation techniques, spinal precautions, and best practices for transporting injured individuals while minimising further harm.

A Shared Commitment to Saving Lives

The training was interactive, combining expert-led presentations with practical demonstrations to ensure participants gained hands-on experience and confidence in applying the skills learned.

By investing in the training of FRSC officers, Nisa Premier Hospital is contributing to a stronger emergency response system that ultimately benefits every road user. Well-trained first responders can significantly improve survival rates and reduce the severity of injuries sustained in road traffic accidents.
